An investigation into the cause of a helicopter crash in which a stuntman was killed while filming the “Airwolf” television series should be completed today, federal officials said Tuesday.

“I expect we should be able to figure out what went wrong,” said Alan Crawford, an investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board, adding that “all key parts of the helicopter survived pretty much intact.”

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today for Canoga Park stuntman Reid Rondell, 22, who burned to death in the crash Friday in Pico Canyon several miles west of Newhall. The services will be at Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary in Newhall.

Rondell, who came from a family of stuntmen, was riding in a Bell 205 helicopter piloted by Scott Meher , 36, of Los Angeles, when the craft suddenly hit the ground.

Meher, who was pulled from the wreckage, remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for treatment of multiple fractures, minor head injuries, scrapes and cuts.
