Oxy said tests confirmed a Colombian discovery.
Occidental Petroleum said an exploratory well three miles from its recently discovered Cano Limon field struck oil that flowed at the rate of 6,200 barrels a day. The Cano Limon field has been estimated at 1 billion barrels, and early tests at the nearby Redondo One field indicate that the deposit could be equally large, officials said.
