Costa Mesa : Pacific Amphitheatre to Close During County Fair
To avoid traffic, parking and noise problems, no concerts or shows will be scheduled at the Pacific Amphitheatre during the Orange County Fair, the fair’s directors decided Thursday.
Although the Pacific Amphitheatre will start its third season in May, it will be closed during the fair’s run, from July 12 through July 21. The amphitheater is on fair property, which is owned by the state.
The Orange County Fair Board imposed the ban because “even though we would be taking in some revenue, the problems of noise and parking and traffic really outweighed the financial benefit to us,” said Jill Lloyd, a spokeswoman for the fair.
No shows had been scheduled at the amphitheater during the fair’s run before the board made the decision Thursday, she said. However, amphitheater organizers had been trying to book the Oak Ridge Boys, she said.
Although the amphitheater will close temporarily, concerts and shows will be presented in the Arlington Theater on the fair grounds.
