People : Huntington Beach Man Appointed Dean of Law School

Howard Gensler of Huntington Beach, former assistant dean of the Northrop University School of Law in Inglewood, has been appointed dean of the school, succeeding Carl Sederholm. The new dean received his law degree from UC Berkeley, has a master’s degree in public policy from Berkeley and five undergraduate degrees from UC Irvine.

The 1985 chairmen of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce councils are Robert (Skip) Davenport of the Auto Club of Southern California, transportation; William Turner of Technology Exchange Center, economics; Anne Brown of Ford Aerospace and Communications Corp., environment and energy; Thomas Santley of C. J. Segerstrom and Sons, governmental affairs, and George Kessinger of Goodwill Industries, special activities.

The Charles F. Prentice Medal, the highest award given by the American Academy of Optometry, has been awarded to Tom Cornsweet of Mission Viejo, a professor of psychology and ophthalmology at UC Irvine. For the past 35 years, Cornsweet has done research on visual perceptions and has developed several instruments to measure the eye.

Two Orange County hospitals recently named new chiefs of staff. At Mercy General in Santa Ana, obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Robert A. Goldstein will head the medical staff, assisted by Drs. Manuchehr Darani and Joseph Gregurich. At Humana Hospital-Huntington Beach, the new chief of staff is cardiologist Dr. Arthur Calick, who will be assisted by Drs. Gerald P. Nolan and David Tsong.

The new president of the Laguna Beach School of Art is Eugene Parker, who succeeds William R. MacDougall. Parker has served on the executive committee of the 23-year-old institute.
