West Hollywood
Congratulations to John Rechy for his honest and objective article (Editorial Pages, Jan. 16) “West Hollywood’s Identity: a Good City, Not a Gay City.”
In light of much negative media coverage regarding the city’s incorporation, and the “gay” issue, his point is well-taken, refreshing and positive.
The opportunity at hand to discourage bigotry and “create a model” of sorts is rare indeed.
I, as a heterosexual and renter, wish the new city’s council nothing but the best of luck.

After reading Rechy’s insightful and thought-provoking article on West Hollywood, I hope its citizens are smart enough to draft him to run for office at election time.
