Insurance broker ordered to make restitution.
Arthur Lee Evans, who pleaded guilty to charges of grand theft in a case involving the loss of nearly $2 million from accounts of his firm, Republic Insurance Brokers Inc. of Santa Ana, was sentenced to a year in jail and five years’ probation. A restitution account containing $120,000 has been set up. Republic was one of Orange County’s largest independent insurance brokerages before it closed in May, 1982. Evans’ wife, Gloria, faces trial on similar charges.
