Israeli Admiral Warns of Soviet Expansion

TEL AVIV —
The outgoing commander of the Israeli navy said Thursday that the Soviet Union has increased its ships in the eastern Mediterranean and expanded its ties with the Syrian and Libyan navies.
Rear Adm. Zev Almog told Israeli state radio that he is concerned over the growing number of Soviet vessels in the eastern Mediterranean.
