Italian Jet Crash Kills 1

LECCE, Italy —
An Italian air force jet fighter crashed near this southern town Friday, killing the pilot, officials said. The plane, an Aermacchi MB-399, spun out of control shortly after taking off on a routine training flight. The navigator bailed out but suffered injuries, the officials said.
