Scan-Tron Corp., a maker of optical mark reading equipment, plans to move its headquarters and production facilities to Tustin by the end of the year. The company, currently in Rancho Dominguez, Calif., has signed a 10-year lease on what will be a custom-designed, 75,000-square-foot facility in the Tustin Research Center industrial park. Architects for the project are Howard F. Thompson & Associates of Irvine.

Scan-Tron currently has its corporate offices in Rancho Dominguez, near Carson, its printing facilities in Long Beach and a manufacturing plant in Santa Ana. It plans to move about 150 people to Tustin.

“We look forward to the greater efficiencies and improved productivity Scan-Tron can achieve through this move to larger facilities designed to meet our particular operating needs now and in the future,” John Saunders, president of Scan-Tron, said in a statement. Saunders said the company’s scanning equipment is used for educational, commercial and government purposes.
