Local News in Brief : Services Set for Victim of Accidental Shooting
Services for Tod Hachenberger, who accidentally killed himself with a gun while camping with his wife and another couple last weekend, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Gates Kingsley & Gates West Valley Mortuary in Canoga Park. He will be buried at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall.
Dan MacNeil, who was with the 22-year-old Hachenberger of Woodland Hills at the time of the accident, said Hachenberger was checking the mechanism of a high-caliber semi-automatic pistol when it went off. MacNeil said the kick from the gun brought it down into a position where the bullet struck Hachenberger in the head.
Hachenberger was pronounced dead when sheriff’s deputies reached the scene of the accident at Camp Schiedeck, 35 miles north of Camarillo.
