A prominent pathologist was found murdered early today in the driveway of his Pasadena home and police said robbery appeared to have been the motive.

The body of Dr. Robert Peters, 57, chief of pathology at Los Angeles County-Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, was discovered shortly after 2 a.m. by his wife, Belle, in front of their residence near Madeline Drive and Orange Grove Boulevard.

Pasadena police Lt. Bob Montoya said Peters suffered multiple stab wounds but declined to say what was stolen.

Montoya said Peters’ wife had been expecting him home earlier in the evening but when he did not arrive she looked outside and found his body.
