The state Fair Political Practices Commission has decided to investigate complaints of alleged campaign violations against a councilwoman, an unsuccessful council candidate and three Carson political groups, according to a commission spokeswoman.

“We have decided to put an investigator on the complaints,” said spokeswoman Lynn Montgomery, who said that the commission’s investigation will probably last three to six months. “That doesn’t mean we’ll find any wrongdoing, but there was enough supporting information to warrant a closer look at the complaints.”

The complaints, filed about five months ago by Carson Councilman Walter J. Egan, charge that the Carson Citizens for Good Government, the Carson Citizens for Responsible Government and the Carson Community Action Committee failed to properly record campaign contributions and expenditures during the 1984 city election campaign.

Egan has also charged that Councilwoman Vera Robles DeWitt failed to report that she controlled the Carson Community Action Committee. He also alleged that unsuccessful council candidate June Viena Pouesi improperly reported her campaign expenses.
