A 5-year-old Valinda girl who was shot in the head with a BB pellet was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Christina Hernandez was rushed to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina after being struck in the head with a pellet from a BB gun allegedly fired by a 12-year-old boy, deputies said. The girl was riding her bicycle in the backyard of her home when she was hit. The pellet reportedly penetrated the skull and lodged in her brain. The boy was taken into custody and detained under the state Juvenile Code. His name was not released because of his age.
