EARNINGS : Net Up 155% for Irvine Phone Firm

American Businessphones Inc. of Irvine Friday reported a 155% increase in net income for the second quarter and a 101% increase in net income for the first half of fiscal 1985.

The company, which sells, installs and maintains telephone equipment for commercial customers, posted second-quarter net income of $262,861, up from the $102,819 posted for the same quarter a year ago. Net income for the first half of fiscal 1985, ended Dec. 31, increased to $458,235 from $238,609.

Revenues for the second quarter rose 105% to $3.97 million, compared to the $1.9 million reported for the second quarter of 1984. First-half revenues rose 101% to $7.2 million, up from the $3.6 million reported during the first six months of 1984.

The company’s increased marketing efforts, the opening of a new sales, installation and maintenance office in San Jose and the addition of new sales personnel contributed to the improved results, Frank J. Feitz, president and chairman of the board, said in a statement.

Feitz said the company also opened a new sales office in Torrance and plans to open at least two additional offices in California in the future.

Dec. 21, the company made an initial public offering of 600,000 shares of common stock at $6 per share. The company’s stock is traded over the counter.
