CALCUTTA, India — An Indian Airlines Boeing 737 caught fire and overshot the runway while landing at Calcutta airport Friday, slightly injuring seven of the 114 people on board, officials said.
Firefighters put out the blaze after the plane came to a halt on the grass, witnesses said.
The 107 passengers and seven crew members were evacuated from the crippled aircraft within minutes, they said.
Witnesses said the engine on the left wing caught fire just as the plane, Flight 248 from Katmandu, Nepal, touched down.
