7 Die in Kenya After Eating Poisoned Meat
At least seven people died from eating poisoned meat scattered around the western Kenyan town of Kitale as bait to kill rabid stray dogs and cats, The Kenya Times Newspaper said Friday.
The newspaper, quoting a Kitale municipal officer, said the seven people were all residents of the Kitsongo-Turkana refugee camp on the outskirts of the town located 200 miles northwest of Nairobi.
The official said the meat had been scattered about the town in an attempt to kill stray dogs and cats that have become a menace because of rabies in the area.
