Penny Toler scored a game-high 30 points to lead the San Diego State University women’s basketball to a 73-59 victory Saturday in a Western Collegiate Athletic Assn. game against Stanford at Palo Alto.

Toler made 12 of 22 shots from the field to post her personal season-high total. Paula Perczynski added 9 points, and Shelda Arceneaux had 8 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Aztecs (5-3 overall, 16-6 in conference) led, 33-31, at halftime. Aztec Coach Earnest Riggins removed 6-foot 4-inch center Toni Wallace at halftime to go with a quicker lineup, and the Aztecs played man-to-man defense the entire second half. The strategy apparently worked as the Aztecs outscored the Cardinal, 40-28, in the second half. Stanford dropped to 2-4, 9-11.
