Orange : Police Dog That Lost His Smell to Be Replaced
Mayor Jim Beam announced the retirement of Quint, a 5-year-old police dog, and a $5,200 donation from Elks Lodge 1475 to pay for his replacement.
After 2 1/2 years with the Orange police, Quint has developed an asthmatic condition that impairs his sense of smell.
He will live with an Orange police officer and his family.
The $5,200 will pay for buying and training a new dog, who will come from Germany. The new dog will train with Officer Jim Hudson.
