Bellflower
The city’s Civic Center auditorium has been renamed the William Bristol Civic Auditorium in honor of the community activist who died Feb. 2 at the age of 64 after suffering a heart attack.
The City Council voted to name the auditorium after Bristol, who was chairman of the Public Facilities Corp., a private company created in 1981 to sell $4.5 million in bonds to finance building of the structure.
“We feel that this is a fitting tribute to the man who gave so much of his time and energy to the Bellflower community,” said Mayor John Ansdell.
Bristol, a volunteer photographer for the City Council, was active in community affairs for more than 22 years.
