Woman Killed Crossing Freeway
A 46-year-old Chatsworth woman was killed Thursday evening by a hit-and-run motorist on the Hollywood Freeway in North Hollywood when she tried to cross the highway to seek help with a flat tire, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Officer Norm Spargur said the woman’s car was disabled at about 6:20 p.m. in a southbound lane near Oxnard Street. She apparently jumped the highway’s center divider to get to an emergency call box and was struck, Spargur said.
The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of her family.
