S. Dakota Legislature to Lobby
Associated Press
PIERRE, S.D. —
Gov. William J. Janklow said today that he signed an emergency bill setting aside money to send the entire state Legislature to Washington next week to lobby for federal action to help financially strapped farmers.
Janklow said the bill calls for spending up to $95,000 to send all 105 members of the Legislature to the capital. Money donated by people across the state, mostly $1 at a time, also will be used to pay for the trip.
