WASHINGTON —
The U.S. Parole Commission today denied parole to the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the spiritual leader of the Unification Church who is serving an 18-month sentence for income tax evasion.
The 64-year-old Korean religious leader began serving his prison sentence July 20, 1984, at the medium-security prison in Danbury, Conn. His new projected release date, which takes into account good behavior, is Aug. 20, Justice Department spokesman Joe Krovisky said.
