Sheriff’s Son Abducted, Freed
A woman walked into a sixth-grade classroom today, fired several shots and abducted the son of the St. Tammany Parish sheriff, authorities said. Less than two hours later, the woman was arrested at a motel in suburban New Orleans and the child was freed unharmed.
The woman was identified as Linda Danner, about 30. Authorities said 11-year-old Andy Canulette was freed unharmed. Although her motive was not clear, St. Tammany Sheriff’s Capt. Freddie Drennan said she had threatened Sheriff Pat Canulette in the past. No one was injured in the classroom shooting.
