Thailand accused Vietnam of using toxic chemicals in border battles against Cambodian guerrillas and said it will protest at the United Nations. The Thai supreme commander, Gen. Arthit Kamlang-ek, said evidence has been found that rocket rounds fired by Vietnamese forces contained the chemicals. The charge coincided with a claim by the Communist Khmer Rouge guerrillas that 11 of its men are in serious condition from the effects of chemical weapons. The allegations could not be independently confirmed.
