ATHENS —
Gunmen assassinated the publisher of a right-wing opposition newspaper in his car here Thursday, and a leftist group that has killed two Americans and three others claimed responsibility.
Nicos Momferatos, 61, publisher of Apoghevmatini (Afternooner), was shot by three gunmen who followed his car as he was driving to his office, police said.
He died on the spot and his driver, Panayotis Rousepis, 38, was critically wounded.
