11 States Report Major Flu Outbreaks; 900 Die

ATLANTA —
Eleven states reported widespread influenza outbreaks last week, and more than 900 persons died of flu or pneumonia, the national Centers for Disease Control said Thursday.
The CDC said that flu was widespread in Florida, Hawaii, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Seventeen states, including California, reported smaller outbreaks.
