An unarmed Tomahawk cruise missile was launched by the U.S. Navy from a submarine off Point Mugu in the first of a series of test flights for the weapon, a Navy spokesman said. The missile, designed to escape detection by enemy radar, hit a desert target at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, spokesman Ray Lucasey said.
