The Air Force and the space agency have settled a bitter dispute over use of the space shuttle, with the military agreeing to use one-third of all future shuttle flights in return for a price break, the space agency chief said today.

James M. Beggs, administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, told reporters that for its part, NASA will “agree completely” that the Air Force should have 10 single-use rockets to launch military satellites that otherwise might have been transported on the space shuttle.
