CHINA PLANS CITY FOR MAKING FILMS

China will construct a city for making films in northeast China, the official news agency Xinhua reported.

The film city, to be built in three years, will be in Changchun, the capital of Jilin province, 525 miles northeast of Peking.

It will feature a group of complexes built in various historical styles from periods up to 2,000 years ago, Xinhua said.

The city, also expected to be a tourist spot, will cover 124 acres and include rock gardens and a pool for shooting underwater scenes, the report said.

It said the studio city, which will be available to foreign film makers, is to be the second such facility in China, with the first planned for the ancient capital of Xi’an.
