General Dynamics’ chairman said charges are false.

General Dynamics is the subject of investigations involving allegations of stock manipulation, inadequate financial disclosures, illegal gratuities to Navy officials and falsification of records to hide the payments. The investigations arose “from malicious and untrue allegations made by a former employee, Takis Veliotis, who is a fugitive from justice in his native Greece,” General Dynamics Chairman David S. Lewis told the House Energy and Commerce investigations subcommittee. “General Dynamics is an honest and reputable company.” Veliotis, former manager of the Electric Boat division, was indicted in 1983 on charges of perjury and accepting kickbacks but fled to Greece before he could be tried.
