The Mexican government has suspended oil shipments to Nicaragua because the Sandinista government has not paid its bills, Nicaraguan Ambassador Edmundo Jarquin confirmed.

Jarquin told a news conference Friday that the cutoff began five weeks ago and added that he was “confident” that the two countries would reach agreement soon on resumption of deliveries.

Jarquin would not say how much money Nicaragua owes for petroleum.
