Henry Cabot Lodge Buried in Hometown
Associated Press
BEVERLY, Mass. —
Henry Cabot Lodge, a three-term senator and ambassador to South Vietnam and the United Nations, was buried Saturday in his hometown of Beverly.
About 50 family friends attended a private memorial service at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, and interment followed at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Lodge died Wednesday at age 82.
A church official said that former President Richard M. Nixon and Vice President George Bush had asked to attend the funeral, but were urged not to by Lodge’s widow, Emily, who wanted to keep the service private.
