As part of an ongoing corporate restructuring, Fluor Corp. of Irvine announced Monday the formation of a new subsidiary called Fluor Technology Inc. The new division, which will also be based in Irvine, comprises the company’s advanced technology and telecommunications services division and will have about 750 employees. It will be part of the company’s Fluor Engineers Inc. subsidiary.

“This consolidation responds to the substantial growth in Fluor’s non-traditional markets and in work in new technologies which Fluor has experienced in recent years,” said Emil J. Parente, the newly appointed president of the division. Parente formerly served as senior vice president and general manager of the advanced technology division.

The advanced technology division, formed in 1980, works on defense, nuclear, environmental and hazardous waste management projects. The division also monitors emerging technologies to target new markets for Fluor services.
