House Rejects Bid to Grant McIntyre a Provisional Seat

WASHINGTON — The House, amid acrimonious charges that the GOP unfairly sought a vote when many members were out of town, refused by a single vote Monday to provisionally seat Indiana Republican Rick McIntyre.
By a 168-167 vote, the House voted to refer a Republican request to seat McIntyre to the House Administration Committee, which already is looking at the disputed election.
It was the second time the House has refused to install McIntyre as temporary representative of the 8th District in southern Indiana. Last week, a federal judge dismissed McIntyre’s suit to force the House to seat him conditionally.
