The Turkish government has delivered a diplomatic note to Bulgaria for the second time in 10 days about alleged oppression of ethnic Turks in that country. Foreign Ministry spokesman Yalim Erlap announced.

In a note delivered to Bulgarian Ambassador Arguir Konstantinov, Turkey asked for more detailed information on the plight of ethnic Turks in Bulgaria, Erlap said.

In response, Bulgaria’s state-run Sofia Press Agency denied that the Soviet Bloc country persecutes ethnic Turks and accused “malignant forces in the West” of fabricating such reports. Sofia Press also suggested that such notes constitute interference in Bulgarian affairs.
