Girl Answers Door, Is Kidnaped, Beaten and Left for Dead
A kidnaper carried off a 7-year-old girl who answered the front door of her north Idaho home, then beat her and left her for dead, authorities said Monday.
Motorists found Jamie Grant Sunday along a county road near St. Maries about 55 miles west of her home. She was suffering from a skull fracture, Shoshone County Sheriff Frank Crnkovich said. The girl was listed in stable condition at a hospital Monday.
Crnkovich said that no motive had been determined for the attack. The girl, whose father recently was killed in a mining accident, lives with her stepmother and grandfather, he said.
