Reagan Names Chairman of Chemical Warfare Panel

WASHINGTON —
President Reagan named veteran diplomat Walter Stoessel on Monday to head a presidential commission to review the nation’s chemical warfare arsenal and assess the need for a new generation of chemical weapons.
Stoessel, a former deputy secretary of state and U.S. ambassador to Poland, the Soviet Union and West Germany, will serve as chairman of the Chemical Warfare Review Commission.
