King Hassan II of Morocco made a triumphal entrance Wednesday into La’youn, capital of the disputed Western Sahara, the Moroccan news agency MAP said.

The king’s three-day visit is intended to demonstrate Moroccan sovereignty over the desert land for which the Algerian-backed Polisario guerrillas have been fighting for nearly 10 years.
