Larry Higby has been named president and chief operating officer of America’s Pharmacy Inc., a newly formed subsidiary of Caremark Inc., the Newport Beach provider of intravenous nutrition that recently changed its name from Home Health Care of America Inc.

Higby, 39, served as senior vice president of marketing for Pepsico Inc.’s Taco Bell subsidiary before joining Caremark.

“Larry Higby brings exceptional talent and unique marketing experience to Caremark,” James Sweeney, chairman and chief executive of Caremark, said. “His experience over the past 10 years as a senior marketing executive makes him well suited to lead our new businesses into the rapidly expanding health care system in America.”

The company’s America’s Pharmacy subsidiary, acquired in January, provides mail-order prescriptions. It had revenue of about $7.5 million during 1984.

NATION

Donald B. Rassier has been named president of Ford Aerospace & Communications Corp., succeeding Henry E. Hockeimer, who is retiring May 1.

Rassier, 55, joins the Detroit-based subsidiary of Ford Motor Co. from Fairchild Industries Inc., where he was an executive vice president and chief executive of its Aerospace Group. He is also a former vice president of Rockwell International Corp., where he was general manager of its missile systems division.

Ford Aerospace, with plants in Orange County and Northern California, is a leading supplier of communications satellites, ground terminals, military and commercial engineering services and defense systems.

Gary H. Stern has been appointed president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, one of 12 regional Fed banks. He replaces E. Gerald Corrigan, who became president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in January.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Ronald L. Nelson has been named president of Paramount Pictures Corp.’s network television and video distribution division, a position that was left vacant earlier this month by the promotion of Mel Harris to head the Paramount Television Group.

Nelson will be succeeded as executive vice president of the television group by John Pike. They will be based in Los Angeles.

Michael R. Harris has been named vice president and general manager of the newly established Los Angeles office of Kermish-Geylin Public Relations Inc.

Clifford H. Hirata has been promoted to vice president-controller for American Fish & Seafood Co., Los Angeles, a wholesale distributor.

Tom Adkins has been appointed executive vice president of the marketing division of Bateman Eichler, Hill Richards Inc., a Los Angeles-based brokerage firm. He was also elected a director and member of the executive committee.

WORLD

Iberia, the Spanish state-owned airline, has fired its chairman, Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, amid mounting controversy over its finances and safety record. He is being replaced by Narcis Andreu, chairman of the Banco de Credito Local in Madrid.
