COFFEE--AND TEA--MATES

To the coffee-lover, few aromas compare with that of freshly roasted coffee beans. Until now, however, only a few Southland establishments--the Coffee Emporium in Marina del Rey is one--roasted their own green coffee beans. Now, Melitta has introduced AromaRoast, left, the first in-home coffee roaster. Designed in Europe, this small appliance holds enough beans for up to 10 cups of coffee, and, depending upon the desired roast--from a light brown to an almost black for espresso--the roasting process takes about 12 to 15 minutes. A removable container with built-in screen sits on top of the roasting chamber to trap the chaff as it separates from the beans. At Robinson’s Cerritos, Westminster and Del Amo. Also, you can now use your Oster coffee maker to brew your favorite tea. The Oster Thermo-Cafe is shown at far left with the Oster Tea Accessory, a removable filter that can be filled with loose tea and slid onto the coffee maker.
