Worker Kills 4 Supervisors, Then Himself
A glass factory worker who was furious over being suspended knocked out a gate guard and then shot five plant supervisors Saturday, killing four of them, before he shot himself to death, authorities said.
The gunman, Mansel (Sonny) Hammett of nearby Dunbar, was an employee of the Anchor Glass Container Co. in this Fayette County town, about 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Hammett was reportedly angry about being disciplined for talking with his wife, who also works at the plant. He had left work and returned with a gun.
An employee at the plant said that about 600 to 700 persons were working at the time of the shootings and that everyone had been evacuated.
