Shultz to Visit Austria for Independence Fete
Secretary of State George P. Shultz will visit Vienna in May for the 30th anniversary of the 1955 Austrian State Treaty, Foreign Minister Leopold Gratz said Sunday.
He said in a television interview that Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei A. Gromyko is also expected for the May 15 celebrations.
The United States, the Soviet Union, Britain and France are signatories of the treaty, which re-established Austria’s full sovereignty 10 years after the end of World War II. Austria had been incorporated into Nazi Germany in 1938.
