Donald G. Heitt has been named president of General Automation Inc.’s Computer Group. Heitt, who had been manager of the Anaheim computer company’s Zebra and mini-computer operations for several months, will assume overall responsibility for the company’s principal products and operations.

“Don is one of the prime architects of General Automation’s microcomputer and vertical marketing strategies,” General Automation Chairman Leonard Mackenzie said in a statement. “He will continue to be essential to the growth of GA’s computing future.”

Heitt, 49, joined the company in 1982 as vice president of marketing. Before that, he was with Honeywell Information Systems Inc. for 18 years.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa. Heitt and his family reside in Anaheim Hills.
