Pittsburgh prosecutors said that they will appeal a judge’s decision dismissing rape charges because the 13-year-old complainant was late for the trial. “You have a 13-year-old girl who was raped and can’t tell her story because . . . she was 30 minutes late” due to traffic, said Allegheny County Dist. Atty. Robert Colville. Senior Common Pleas Judge J. Quint Salmon, 77, said that he had “no alternative” but to dismiss the charges against Geoffrey Adams, 28, when the girl failed to appear by 9:30 a.m., half an hour after the trial was scheduled to begin.
