Meeting on French Colonies Planned
About 30 leaders of independence movements in France’s remaining overseas possessions will hold an “international conference on the last French colonies” in Guadeloupe next month, organizers said.
The independence leaders will join about 1,000 other people on the Caribbean island for the April 5-7 conference, the organizers said Friday.
The conference will address common problems of Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guyana in the Caribbean; Mayotte and Reunion in the Indian Ocean, and New Caledonia and Polynesia in the Pacific.
