White House Budget Director David Stockman is opposed to a plan to transfer the U.S. government’s Landsat Earth-sensing satellite system to a partnership between RCA and Hughes Aircraft, the Wall Street Journal reported. According to a memo, Stockman dislikes the transaction’s terms, objecting in particular to the size of the partnership’s initial investment and the ease with which the company can back out of the transaction. The Commerce Department and the RCA-Hughes partnership say they haven’t received any official notification that the contract has been rejected.
