A college student was killed early Sunday when his car struck a barrier, overturned and exploded into flames on Interstate 8 near Interstate 15, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said. John J. Trusiak, 21, of Phoenix, who attended Occidental College in Los Angeles, was traveling west on Interstate 8 when he lost control of his car, the spokeswoman said.
