‘BOY MEETS GIRL’
France, 1984, 100 minutes . 12:45 and 7:45 p.m. Debuting film maker Leos Carax makes a stunning first impression with his moody, black-and-white tone piece. Wandering the bleaker areas of the city of lights, “the boy” encounters a series of colorful types and experiences both love and pain in the process. Carax’s efforts benefit from his seeming facility to combine striking visuals with poignant emotions. This is one of those rare films fully brimming with ideas and interpretations to challenge, dismay and delight.
