La Habra : Slain Officer’s Wife Gives Birth to a Girl
Kathleen Johnson of La Habra, the widow of a Los Angeles police officer who was killed in a gun battle with armed robbery suspects in Chinatown in December, has given birth to a girl.
Rachel Claire Johnson, the couple’s only child, was born at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Jude Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Fullerton, said Barbara Walling, hospital spokeswoman.
Weighing 8 pounds, 7 ounces, the child was delivered by Caesarean section. “Mother and daughter are both doing fine, and she (Johnson) quotes the baby as ‘beautiful,’ ” Walling said.
Kathleen Johnson was several months pregnant when her husband, Duane, 27, was killed Dec. 19, when he and another officer responded to a silent alarm of a robbery in a Chinatown jewelry store.
