The Justice Department began deportation proceedings in Miami against Konrads Kalejs, 71, of St. Petersburg, Fla., for his alleged collaboration with Nazi Germany in the persecution of civilians during World War II. Kalejs was ordered to show cause why he should not be expelled. It was charged that he served in the Latvian Security Auxiliary Police, “an execution squad which traveled through Latvia,” during the war.
